As the primary foundation kennel for the Yakutian Laika in the United States, NorthStar Ranch has helped many breeders get started with the bloodlines we established in the U.S. over the years. We invite you to take a look at our recommended list of breeders we recognize and support the breeders who have remained committed to the breed, upheld their agreements, and continued working to promote the Yakutian Laika in a positive and ethical manner. We are proud to include those breeders and programs here.
Ohio
Hickory Meadows imported the second-largest amount of diversity in the Yakutian Laika breed into the United States. Though a smaller kennel based in Ohio, they have remained extremely dedicated to the breed over the years. Owner Rebecca has invested a tremendous amount of time, work, and effort into breed club development and the establishment and advancement of the breed in the United States.

Maine
Dark Point Kennel was established in 2023 in rural Maine, with foundation Yakutian Laikas from NorthStar Yakutian Laikas, including NorthStar’s Lucky Shot and NorthStar’s Jedi Knight.
Though a newer program, Dark Point Kennel has remained deeply committed to the preservation and thoughtful advancement of the Yakutian Laika. Their focus is on sound health, correct structure, stable temperament, and true working ability.

Oklahoma
Yakuts of the Ozarks is a small breeding program dedicated to preserving and advancing the Yakutian Laika in the United States. With a strong focus on health, temperament, working ability, and breed type, the program is committed to producing sound, versatile dogs that reflect the history and purpose of the breed.
Through careful planning, preservation-minded breeding practices, and active involvement within the breed community, Yakuts of the Ozarks continues to support the growth and future of the breed in the United States.
