The primary registry for this breed in America is now the American Stock Dog Registry.
What is the different between Pet Only, Limited AKC, and Full AKC AKC is the American Kennel Club.
Sometimes we will offer a puppy below normal prices and that will not include AKC registration. Generally this applies to any puppy we price at $1000 or less.
Limited AKC registration is essentially for pet owners who have no intention to breed. The limited status means that offspring from that dog cannot be AKC registered and the dog cannot be shown in conformation. This dog is a purebred pet. These dogs are very important and pet owners are some of the best breed ambassadors in the world. As a preservation breeder I am thankful for each and every wonderful pet home.
Full AKC registration means the dog does have full breeding rights and may compete in AKC conformation dog shows.
Why does full registration cost more? In reality it's not that I charge more for full registration. Especially compared to others in Siberian Huskies for example or the cost of importing a well bred Yakutian Laika which is several thousand dollars.
In reality I give a discount for pet homes. The reason for this is there are a few more complexities in the health and replacement guarantee on a show/breeding dog. So many factors that a pet owner would never even notice or care about are a make or break when it comes to a choice to breed a dog or to show. We call puppies "show prospects" for a reason. Not every puppy no matter how great the parents are is going to be a show puppy.
For example - Primitive breed males testicles can play games of going up and down through puppyhood. IF a puppy is placed as a pet this would no be considered a reason to offer a replacement puppy and would just eventually be removed when the dog is neutered. For show/breeding prospect this is a puppy we would have to offer a replacement. So, it makes sense that a pet home often gets a slightly discounted price.
Also all of our puppies are offered at a fraction of the true cost that I have invested into these quality bloodlines. I will probably never reach a point of making a profit over what I have invested in the dogs and that is ok. I invested into what I wanted to do and build not to try make lots of money, But, preserving my breeds and offering amazing puppies for pet, show and future preservation breeder homes is my true passion. I love my breeds, my dogs, my puppies and helping preserve my breeds.
